Birds of Wisconsin Project

Birds of Wisconsin Project

Info

The Birds of Wisconsin Project is an ongoing expedition in which I (Emma Towne) aim to paint and document every bird species found in our state. Inspired by John James Audubon’s work The Birds of America, I want to take on a similar challenge, focused entirely on Wisconsin’s birdlife.

To do this, I plan to travel throughout Wisconsin, photographing each species in its natural habitat and then create detailed paintings based on those encounters. My goal is to raise awareness about the beauty and diversity of our local wildlife, showing people the amazing creatures that may be living right in their own backyards.

Each finished painting will be accompanied by prints and the original photographs taken during the process. I’ll also be sharing the journey on social media, so others can follow along as the project unfolds. Birds, and wildlife in general, are very important to me, and through this work I hope to inspire others to appreciate and protect our beautiful state.
